Speaking of Faith with Angela Lewis-Wright

I would be remiss if I created this blog and didn’t include a section on faith.

Faith looms large in my life and has for most of my life. Feeling a pull and a sense that God existed in the small details in my life seemed to haunt me from childhood, and I am sure the fact that I had a praying mother had much to do with my own faith.

In light of the pandemic, and what it meant to the world last year and perhaps forever more, many people came to terms with death on a larger scale than they had ever encountered previously. Most people at least know of someone who passed away or had the virus. In New York City, where I live, death was looming large in the early days of the pandemic. Hospitals were full, and death was in the air. People experienced these things like never before, the sights and sounds were frightening, and of a magnitude that we, in our privileged lives had never experienced like many other generations had. There was no chance to mourn or memorialize loved ones who passed away. Often, people just fell ill, went into the hospital and never came out. It was shocking and horrific and we were locked up and isolated.

It was a devastating time for so many of us, and because of that, many people started to think of their own mortality. Some drew closer to God, and others began to doubt God. How could a good God allow this to happen to the world?

I don’t have the answers, but I wanted to create a space to talk about faith and for others to share their faith.

My faith in Christ adds to my peace of mind, and for anyone who might be searching here’s a space where you might find a word of inspiration.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

How does one explain faith in God?

It can be challenging because as the verse above says, it cannot be seen. It’s also challenging because we are living in a time where people of faith are often frowned upon, looked at as less intelligent, using religion as a crutch, the Bible and it’s teachings are archaic and obsolete, and has no place in this progressive new world order.

I submit that without belief in God, one is given license to live as they wish without consequence. After all, if there is no judgement in the hereafter, and there is no such thing as eternal punishment, why should one believe? Why should one behave well?

“If you consider that the human race has been around for thousands of years, the last two or three hundred don’t seem that long. And it is in that short time that our beliefs have shifted from a certainty in truth to a denial that it even exists.”(Focus on the Family)

“Everything worked fine until we started coming up with questions and problems that science couldn’t answer. It took nearly 200 years, but eventually people started to realize that science and reason hadn’t eliminated the problems of poverty, crime and hunger. After a while, we became discouraged with trying to find a better solution and decided that there just isn’t a solution.” (Focus on the Family)

I have come across many believers in the silver sister community, and I have made a few friends as well, so I just wanted to create a space here where we can share our faith in this season of life. We are in our forties, fifties, sixties, and beyond. We have lived more than just a little bit. I’m tapping into my Silver Sisters who are also believers, and I wanted share some of the things they have to say. Angela Lewis-Wright is an Actress, Model, and Standup Comic sharing a piece of her faith.

I just got tired of putting eyeliner on every single day again because the permanent liner that I had done a few years ago was starting to fade. So it was time to refresh them, and I have been searching for a while and didn’t feel like driving two hours down to the Phoenix area, or wait until I went back to NYC, so I found Natural Beauty By Kelly who does permanent make up in the area. Now it’s just a half hour drive instead.
Now I can truly say, “I woke up like this!!!”

Some fall inspo…
Haven’t done one of these in a while, but thanks to @vinniecedufresne I was inspired to get back to it now that the weather is changing. We still get some spotty warm weather here in AZ so layering is key.
This is actually a haul from my own closet with a few new pieces and updating with a few new accessories.
You can find them in my Amazon Shop.

Curly in the summer, straight in the winter…I like change and the versatility of switching back and forth. So I’ll be going back to straight for the cooler weather in a few days. I’ll see how it goes and how long it lasts when I go to the gym,but for now I’m welcoming the change🍁🍁Plus it’s hard to wear hats with this puffy hair!!😂

Do you switch it up with the changing of the seasons?
