Who Wears Short Shorts?

by | Sep 24, 2020 | 0 comments

Being a woman of a certain age comes with the benefit of doing as you please “Don’t show your knees, you’re too old for short shorts” “Older women shouldn’t have long hair”. “After a certain age dating is impossible.” “Gray hair will make you look old, keep dyeing it!” That’s what “they” say… We don’t know who “they” are, and we don’t care. Silver Sisters today are not confined by the restraints of ages past. It’s still warm here in California and I thought I’d try this look that I’ve been seeing floating around here. This amazing jacket is another thrifted gem that I found a few years ago. It’s a classic beauty and I’m not letting it go any time soon (Or my vintage Ferragamo shoes!) It’s a fabulous double breasted jacket by Blumarine. Wearing shorts, showing my legs and breaking all the rules. Being a woman of a certain age comes with the benefit of doing as you please, and not much caring about what others think! Live a little y’all. Maybe my date night outfit!

Staying in Park Slope and hopped on the trusty F train. Passed by the Bergen Street station where I lived for decades. Feeling warm and fuzzy and nostalgic. New York made me!!!

Back in Brooklyn for a few days, I had the chance to attend an exclusive introduction to Hilo, a brand-new blood pressure monitoring device that’s just being released.

Since many of you know I’ve been keeping a closer eye on my blood pressure, I was excited to learn about a device that can monitor readings around the clock and even share them directly with your doctor.

My reading was a little elevated today (a busy trip back to New York will do that!), but it was a good reminder to slow down and pay attention.

I even brought one home for my brother, so we’ll both be trying it out-so stay tuned.

Most families don’t talk about care until they’re forced to.
I’ve learned that getting support isn’t about giving up independence—it’s often what helps people keep it.
As we age, most of us still want the same things: our routines, our homes, our favorite chair, our morning coffee, and the freedom to live life on our own terms.
That’s why I appreciate learning more about @homeinsteadinc and their personalized approach to helping older adults age safely and comfortably at home while maintaining their independence and dignity.
The conversation about aging doesn’t have to begin during a crisis. Sometimes the greatest gift we can give ourselves and the people we love is simply having the conversation before we need it.
Because aging well should still feel like living fully.
